1. Have you ever had someone that is unwilling to meet you half way in working things out? Have you ever had someone gossip to you and you didn’t know what to do? Share how it made you feel.

2. What do you do when other people aren’t doing the right things? Go along with them so they don’t get mad at you? Listen but don’t say much? Argue with them? Try to persuade them with how you’re right?

3. How should you handle a gossip or someone stirring the pot? Read Proverbs 26:17-23. How can you make contentions quiet down? Read Proverbs 20:10. How should you handle a gossiper? Are you able to do that? Read Proverbs 22:24-25. What should be your association with an angry person? What do the answers to these question look like in real life?

4. Read Colossians 3:12-14. How are Christians suppose to act towards one another and why? Why do you think so many churches are filled with inter conflict? How would church’s improve if they followed these verses? Would it improve their effectiveness or not? Why?

5. Read 1 Corinthians 13:5; Psalm 103:12; Isaiah 43:25. Have you ever forgiven but not forgotten? Brought something back up that you said you forgave?

6. Discuss the four promises of forgiveness: 1. I will not think about this incident. 2. I will not bring this incident up and use it against you. 3. I will not talk to others about this incident. 4. I will not allow this incident to stand between or hinder our personal relationship.

7. Duck and let God deal with them. Read 1 Peter 2:19-3:2. What finds favor with God? What is our purpose in this passage and who are we to copy? What two relational examples does this passage use? How can you apply that to your life or can you? In the final three sentences how does it tell us we can inherit a blessing? What do you think that blessing is?

Sunday Sermon on January 22, 2012 by Pastor Thomas Tate

(no recording this week)

1. Do you know anyone that has ever had an abortion? Have they shared the emotional pain they feel from it?

2. Why do you think that even Christians are divided on this issue? Read Psalm 139:14-16; Jeremiah 1:4-5 and Luke 1:39-45 (Jesus had just been conceived in Mary). When does God start counting life, in the womb or outside? Whose opinion matters the most, God’s according to His Word or ours?

3. “History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people.” MLK. How is this true according to abortion and Christians? Why are we called “the silent majority”? Read Proverbs 24:11.

4. Read John 9:1-3. How does this counter the argument for aborting children who may be born deformed? Wasn’t it Hitler who sought to only defend the life of the healthy? Have you ever known anyone who was born with a disorder that is a great witness of God?

5. What if a mother’s life is at risk? Read John 15:12-13. Would you risk your life for your child even if you only had a small chance of saving them? Could you live with yourself if you didn’t?

6. What about babies that were conceived by rape or incest? Isn’t killing the baby punishing the wrong person? How do you feel about that fact that Jesus’ genealogy consist of a prostitute, rape, incest and adultery? What if one of those women were able to have an abortion? Why do you think that God made sure that these connections were made in Jesus’ genealogy?

7. Read John 8:7,10-11 and 1 John 1:9. How should we treat those women that have regretted this decision?

8. What can you do to stand up for the defenseless unborn child? Should it be one of the determining factors in who you vote for?

Sunday Sermon on January 15, 2012 by Pastor Thomas Tate

1.What insight, principle, or observation from this weekend’s message did you find to be most helpful or eye opening? Explain.

2.Tell of a situation where you saw someone hurt bad by a conflict that did not get resolved in a healthy matter and the effects it had on them(hurting from parents when children, wife with husband or vise versa, siblings, friends…)?

3.Share a time when you have had a conflict that did not get resolved and how it effected that relationship and others?

4.Read 1 Corinthians 13:1-7. How important is it to enter into conflict resolution with love? How do we often go into it? Don’t we often just go into to prove ourselves right? Have you ever thought to ask yourself if you could just forgive them and move on without confronting? This is different than not confronting but still resenting what they did.

5.Read Proverbs 15:1-2. Some think whoever speaks loudest and last wins. How is this the wrong attitude? How can you apply this proverb to your life?

6.Resolving conflict requires self examination (Read Matthew 7:1-5). How important do you think it is to ask yourself how have you added to this problem and examine yourself?

7.Resolving conflict requires good motives (Read Romans 12:16-19). How important is it that we have good motives and are truly seeking peace not just our own way? How can you leave room for the Lord to resolve your conflict?

8.What does Matthew 18:15 say is the first step in handling conflict with someone? Why is this so important? Why do so many go around gathering numbers on their side before and after attempting to handle conflict? How is gathering numbers divisive and destructive? How have you seen this in church?

9.Read Matthew 18:21-35. How do you define forgiveness? Is saying you forgive but still having resentment true forgiveness? Who do you need to truly forgive in your life?
