Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego ALSO LIVED FEARLESS LIVES

Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego replied to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to give you an answer concerning this matter. “If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. “But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.” Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with wrath, and his facial expression was altered toward Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego. He answered by giving orders to heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated.

Daniel 3:16-19

WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF?

FEAR ABOUT FAMILY…

FEAR ABOUT MONEY…

FEAR ABOUT FUTURE…

FEAR ABOUT HEALTH…

FEAR ABOUT __________________

TRUST IN YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER

For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!”

Romans 8:15

TRUST IN YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER

‘Do not fear, for I am with you;

Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you, surely I will help you [with__________,]

Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Isaiah 41:10

TRUST IN JESUS AND LIVE FEARLESLY

“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. “And you know the way where I am going.” Thomas *said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

John 14:1-6

Step Two:

ACCEPTING THE MEANING OF LIFE, GLORIFYING GOD

A GUIDE TO THE ULTIMATE CHRISTIAN LIFE

GOD’S TEACHINGS LEAD US TO GLORIFY HIM

All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord, and they shall glorify Your name. For You are great and do wondrous deeds; You alone are God. Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name. I will give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, and will glorify Your name forever.

Psalm 86:9-12

OUR GOODNESS AND FAITH SHOULD LEAD TO GOD’S GLORY

To this end also we pray for you always, that our God will count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Thessalonians 1:11-12

THE GREATEST THING YOU CAN DO IS LOVE GOD ABOVE ALL THINGS (GLORIFYING HIM)

“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And He said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ “This is the great and foremost commandment.

Matthew 22:36-38

GLORIFY GOD BY DYING TO SELF

“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

Galatians 2:20

GLORIFY GOD BY LIVING FOR HIM

“He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. “And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. “He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it…“Whoever seeks to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.

Matthew 10:37-39; Luke 17:33

Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice,  “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing…” “To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever.”
Revelation 5:11-12,13b

A GUIDE TO THE ULTIMATE CHRISTIAN LIFE:

ACCEPTING THE MEANING OF LIFE, GLORIFYING GOD

  1. We know that Jesus wants us to live the ultimate/superabundant Christian life, what did you decide this week about achieving the ultimate Christian life? Did you decide to go for it or wait?

  1. The first step of the ultimate Christian life begins with the cross and salvation (our foundation). Read Psalm 86:9-12. The second step is accepting that the meaning of life is not about us but about glorifying God in all things. What do you think about this statement? Why must this be the next step after salvation?

  1. Read 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12. What did Paul pray that their good deeds and faith would ultimately achieve? How can people do good deeds in Jesus name but not bring glory to God? Read Matthew 7:21-23. (Hint: motivation/sincerity)

  1. What is the greatest command? Read Matthew 22:36-38. Does this seem impossible to you? Would God give you a command that you are not capable of achieving? Discuss.

  1. Read Galatians 2:20. They say the last part of a man to get saved is his right (gas peddle) foot. What part of you is the hardest to put to death for Christ? It is only your desire to keep it alive that holds you back. Discuss this statement in-depth as it pertains to your part.

  1. What did you think of the video about the “Me First” church? How have you seen that lived out in the church in real ways?

  1. Read Matthew 10:37-39; Luke 17:33. What is the danger of loving anything more than God? How can you tell what a person loves the most? What is does Jesus promise those who are willing to die to their self for His Glory? What does this look like in real life?
