Calvary Baptist Church Is A Place Where Jesus Reigns,

The Bible Rules And

God’s Grace Can Be Experienced

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:1

“If you had known Me, you would have know My Father also; from now on you know Him and have seen Him.” Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He  who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?”

John 14:7-9

Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”  Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.”

John 20:28

And he said to Him, “All these things will I give You, if You fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.’”

Matthew 4:9-10

and those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, “You are certainly God’s Son.”

Matthew 14:33

but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.

John 5:18c

All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and life was the light of men.

John 1:3-4

For by Him all things were created, both the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities – all things have been created through Him and for Him.

Colossians 1:16

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:14

He is the image of the invisible God…

Colossians 1:15

For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority;

Colossians 2:9-10

“You call Me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so I am.”

John 13:13

This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”

John 3:2

Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ:

1 Peter 1:1

but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

2 Peter 3:18

“No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.”

John 15:15

And behold, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshiped Him.

Matthew 28:9

And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and day and night they do not cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come.” And when the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, to Him who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders will fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and will worship him Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying, “Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.”

Revelation 4:8-11

And they raised their voices, saying “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”

Luke 17:13

For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Jude 4

He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.

Colossians 1:18

Therefore Pilate said to Him, “So You are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”

 John 18:37

And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying, “To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever.” and the four living creatures kept saying, “Amen.” and the elders fell down and worshiped.

Revelation 5:13

And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses.

From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

Revelation 19:11-16

“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. “He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.”

John 16:13-14

Sermon-bases Bible Study Questions

1. Read John 1:3-4; Colossians 1:16.  Who created all things and for what?  Are you a creation of Jesus?  If yes, then what is the only way you can be living for what you were created for?  What area of your life needs to come under Him?

2. Read John 13:13, 3:2.  Who or what is truly leading your life’s decisions?  What is the last decision that you feel Jesus truly lead in your life?

3. What qualities does a best friend have?  Who is your best friend other than Jesus? Why?  Read John 15:15.  Is Jesus your best friend?  What would he think of your friend selections?

4. What does true worship look like to you? Read Revelation 4:8-11.  What does it look like in heaven and how is it different than what you see in church or in your own worship?

5. Have you ever heard that Christianity is for the weak? Have you ever thought of Jesus as a warrior? Read Revelation 19:11-16.  What is your impression of this description of Jesus? Have you ever thought as yourself as a warrior in God’s army?  What would that look like if lived out in this world? (Obviously nothing to do with violence)
